Spec Practice.

Today, we had a practice rehearsal at Tamaki Hall. The rehearsal was for the Spec Headway prize giving ceremony that is going to be held this Wednesday.

For the rehearsal, we had to practice sitting properly on our chairs, with our backs to the back of the seats. We then walked as a group to the front of the hall to receive our certificates.

At the Prize giving ceremony, we will be meeting people from other classes at Sommerville who have done Spec Headway as well. Some of the classes we will be seeing are Tamaki 1, The House and Room 7.

When Lesley calls us we will stand in a line and Diane will give us our certificates Then we will have a class photo and walked back to our seats. Spec

In the morning we went to Tamaki Hall to practice for the Spec Awards. I was happy when I practiced. I am happy because I am a senior at Edgewater. I can't wait for Wednesday because my Mum is coming. I will clap for everyone and I will focus on Diane. When I was sitting down, I sat straight. I am ready for Wednesday.

Breaking the Ball Barrier by Bradley

Posted on 12:12 AM by babli panday
On Tuesday the 11th of March, we went to the Tamaki Recreation Centre to watch the famous NZ Breakers. When we first entered the gym, there were a lot of students from other schools including Sommerville Special School sitting along the sides of the basketball court. The students were eagerly waiting for the basketball team to come in.

While we were waiting for the players to come, one of the people who organized the event picked a few volunteers to play a game. They were challenged to shoot a basketball into the hoop, if they got the ball through the hoop, they would win the ball. Among some of those picked were Aidan and Nathan, and they were very happy that they won.

When the NZ Breakers arrived, some of the students from other schools who were there were chosen to have a go at playing against the Breakers, including Allan and Fynn from our class. At the end of the games, despite losing against the players, the students were very happy they had played against a famous basketball team.

After playing the games against the Breakers, we played another game in which the students had to decide whether one of the Breakers players would either miss the basketball hoop or  manage to get the ball into the hoop.

At the end of the session, each student received a handbook that explained about the biography of the NZ Breakers. We were really excited when we were given a chance to get autographs signed by the players themselves.

It was a very memorable day for the students to watch the players up close and to have a taste of what it is like to play with a famous team.

Warning - Warning - Warning - Spec Virus Alert - Warning - Warning - Warning

Warning

Spec Virus Alert !

Parents and teachers beware!

Sommerville students are working feverishly to complete their Spec folders before the end of term.

Look out! The scary Spec virus is spreading!

A yellow spot is first sign of Spec infection.
The yellow spots spread rapidly.

If left untreated students are soon unable to learn.

Infected students should:

* Be nice to their parents and teachers.

* Take a break from working on their Spec folder

* Do housework involving water. (eg dish washing or car washing.)

After a short time of doing water based chores the yellow spots will fall of the student. Then students can safely return to working on their Spec folders.
